creatures

nostalgia is a very dangerous thing. its powerful and hard to control and ruins the present moment. why are we always constantly forced to remember instead of look forward. everything makes us remember. songs and smells and quick mental flashes of people weaving in and out of the present moment. it makes us feel good to know that we once had a moment that we will never forget, or not necessarily a moment, but a person or a place or a sound or a feeling...but its like pressing on a bruise when it already hurts or giving yourself a paper cut on purpose....ill never be able to comprehend why humans do it, but they do, and they always will. i have a select few moments in my life that at that time so strongly impacted my present brainwavey thingies that i thought i would never in my life experience something like it again. everyone has them. and most ppl try to hold on so tightly to those seemingly insignificant moments that those thoughts knot up in the present and cause us to forget where we are and make u feel so morphy and in your own head and the claustrophobia is like when ur sitting on the window seat of an airplane and u have to take a gnarly piss and the frenchmen next to you is out like a light and the british woman on the outside is deeply engrossed in a self help book and you cant escape. we can never escape our own heads. its a dangerous thing, the mind.

freeee fallllinnnn

back from barcelona. wait. rewind. back from way more than just barcelona. i havnt written in ages, mate. ive always wanted a life of jet setting across europe/south america/dirty mexican villages....but never thought id make it. i hoped i wouldnt end up like some of those people who sit around there entire lives wanting to do something but never end up actually doing it. not cuz i didnt want it bad enough but just cuz life usually tries its hardest to go against you. not in a pessimistic way or anything....ha. but asi es vida and im sittin here in my disgusting spanish apartment and i love it more than life. the semesters almost up...but i still have 7 more months living here. i cant picture going home after not living in american life for 10 months.....its going to be all psycho and feel all awkward like when ur longsleeved tshirt pulls up to the elbow when u put on a sweatshirt. before i got here all i could picture was how hard it would be to leave, and now....not because i dont love spain, because i do.....but i think this year isnt gonna be the hard year in my life to leave. i mean i will be sad to leave this lifestyle....life of school two days a week. traveling around on loans i will be indebted to for the rest of my life...going out at the hours of the night when the majority of the world is sleeping and coming home when ppl start their work days...its an interesting life. and ill be sad to leave it. but sometimes i feel like my heart is still somewhere else. in the argentina, mexico, cuba genre. i just know thats where it is. que raro.
i cant even believe all the places ive been since september. hmm
singing and dancing and overflowing guinness with the irish in galway and dublin
sittin on the dock of the bayyyy (watchin the tiiiide roll away) in nerja
the best night of my entire life at ilovetechno in belgium. 35,000 people all coming together to experience
the best feeling in the world all night long.
being in london hearing big ben gonging like i always pictured it would(gonging...?? ehh) and almost getting hit by 9 cars on abby road...so embarrassing.
barcelona - i regresared once. but ill always regresar. thanks to that tuberculosis fountain we drank out of thats supposed to always bring u back to barcelona. boys noize. las ramblas. the port. and some delicious food. that city gets me. something about it. surprised i didnt get mugged like the majority of the people we met that weekend. insane.
uumm i leave for paris for christmas and lisbon, portugal for new years eve. what? sometimes i dont feel like im in my own life. in january were off to scotland and after that....we'll just see where life goes wont we?

Ireland, not Iceland

We're back from Ireland, contrary to common knowledge we were not in Iceland. (Ivan, our spanish roomate had a little malentendido with that one). It was amazing. Just like you would imagine it. Only awful thing about it was flying out of seville - the worlds worst city. Picture palm springs if there were no outlet malls or, better yet, food, and thats what it was like. Just a big open place of nothingness. All that really happened there was waiting and eating waiting and eating, and eating the most horrible food in the world. I ate a hamburger that may or may not have been pig loin, and a salad that cost 9 euro (the price didnt include the flies in the vinegar). We fought with the camerero because he wouldnt give us a plate to eat our bread (which we didnt order, but he still charged us 4 euro). NEVER GO TO SEVILLA. NEEEVVVERRR. anyways. after long buses (i have finally learned how to sleep on public transportation, thank god) we made it to dublin only to get off the plane and die of cold. like, we're dead. it was 30 degrees. we had sweatshirts. greaaaaat. perfect. of course this would happen to us. so anyways, after freezing our selves off we got to our hostel only to find out we were staying in the same one as this annoying stupid guy wearing cowboy boots thinking he was the hottest thing in the world. of course. emily has two friends from dublin, twins, who showed us a true irish time around dublin. after dublin we took a 4 hr bus ride to galway....the most awesome city in the world. we always took the back of the bus which was one long seat and we spread our fat selves out and passed out the whole way there. waking up occasionally to see the raddest views ever. like what u picture ireland to be, it really looks like that. amazing. when we got to galway it was OF COURSE pouring rain. torrential rain. once again, that would happen to us. and we were walking around the city lost cuz this stupid beezy in a travel agency gave us the wrong directions. like who works in a travel agency and doesnt know the city. retard. so we were lost in the rain with our backpacks weighing 900 lbs and we saw two friends we had met in dublin, an australian and a german. of course the annoying german was staying in our hostel....in our room. like that would happen. we went out with them in the pouring rain that night to this pub with traditional irish music with old men singing loudly to the most irish songs u can imagine. it was amazing. that was the experience i couldnt leave ireland without. we of course had to have a guinness to be irish. delicious. and we cheered the old men that were singing. just like i always pictured. anyways...it was basically a bunch of experiences like that. with amazing food. all we did was eat. we were in such shock at how good the food was and how many options there were to eat because its not like that in spain that we went crazy. we literally walked down the street and couldnt go a block without buying something. at this one open air market we listened to a man play classic rock and sing while we ate the spiciest chili of our lives made by this precious black man. anyways. words cant really describe the feeling ireland gave me. it was like my whole childhood imagination of this magical place. something about it makes u feel good and just want to stay there forever (except for the torrential rain). irish people just live differently, they appreciate life and no matter how old they are...theyre still young. after endless adventures that i have no time to write about, we came home to new roomates. an italian and a guy from new mexico. not to mention ivan, who steals our waters and plays music loudly and is just all around psycho. but hes a character. thats for sure. were goin to belgium in a month for I LOVE TECHNO. basically this huge festival with all these dj's. i might just leave my soul on the dancefloor like i did with daft punk. best. time. ever.
besos y abrazos

si no supiste mál, ahora te puedas marchar

puessss

I havn't written anything yet cuz its always sooo crazy here. im sitting at a tapas bar outside and its soo busy. apparently schooools IN for the yearrrr (horrible alice cooper reference...schools out for summer? eh eh eh?) Anyways. the guy that works here is our best friend. you buy one drink and he gives you three plates of tapas. do keep in mind its all stuff i would never eat (except the bell peppers and potatoes, but im not down for the questionable looking fish spine??) hes a little unhappy were not guzzling the paella. sorry. thats just wrong. squid eyes staring at u in the face, no gracias. nobody knows. not my fav thing in the world. anyways ive been here for liiiikke a month now. almost? i think. time feels a little nonexistent. ive tried to figure out if its going super fast or super slow and all ive figured out is that i forgot wat it was like to eat american food. and by american food i do mean mexican food. many many nights have been spent thinking about far off places like taco bell....I have pretty much acclimated to the food here, im much better off than my first two weeks where I literally ate bread. I eat grilled cheese AT LEAST once a day, if not three times. too much has happened in the last month to write about. but i promise ill write more as time goes by (soooo slowwwlyyyy). but heres a quick summary of life in este momento. i live with sara (and almost emily, shes right next door with 3 thirty year old men). i also live with three spaniards. well actually two. and the third one is either gonna be from barcelona or france. nobody knows. i gotta turn on the hot water for my shower and hope to god it doesnt run out otherwise ill freeze to death. our washing machine takes 6 hours give or take a little to do one load of laundry. we share a line to hang up clothes with our neighbors across the way. they have stolen six of my white tshirts and a dishtowel. some crazy barcelona old hag called the police on me and sara our first night in our apartment cuz we were TALKING to loud. im going to ireland next week. tracing my roots. hopefully ill sing in a pub with a bloody right irish gent. alright. im officially....delerious? yes. sucked up quite enough motorcycle exhaust to last a lifetime and the sound of honking horns is drivin me un poco loco.theres a frikin annoying man asking me for the password at the cafe. just buy a stupid drink u cheap idiot.
es todos....escribiré pronto.
abrazos para todos
